Based on fifteen objects in the public space of Eersel's village core (‘the Pearls of Eersel’) the cultural history of the town is brought to life. By using an illustrated booklet or map, visitors and residents can wander through the village and stop at every ‘pearl’ to read a short and exceptional story about the place. Each object is associated with a specific and meaningful part of the village's history. Stories about wealth, poverty and yet more richness, about trade and travel to Denmark or about care and love during war and peace. In that way every ‘pearl’ forms a link between now and then. The guide delves into the history of Eersel, but also into the underlying events in De Kempen, Brabant, the Netherlands and even in Europe.
