The recreational area Geestmerambacht is being developed as an adventurous landscape, with a rich variation of landscape types and a tremendous diversity of biotopes. The design concept and the design of the furnishing elements for the recreational area Geestmerambacht are a follow-up and an addition to the development concept for the subareas Kleimeer and Druppels (Grontmij). The brief of the design concept was to support the features of these differing landscape types by developing design and material principles for various furnishing elements.
All the elements are designed as if they've been influenced by water and wind, and because of the robust and sustainable material choices, they can withstand further climatic influences. Various series of elements are differentiated which include a series of differing bridges, duckboards and scaffolding, the fencing off of pastures for animals, seating elements, playground elements, look-out buildings, waste disposal facilities and bicycle facilities.
After its construction, a new landscape is not quite finished. In the first few years the furnishing elements will mainly determine the image and will be the first impression for visitors.
